Fitness Coaching

Onslow Fitness provides the highest level of personal training in Onslow County.  Our experienced fitness instructors have specific education, backgrounds, and training in exercise physiology, biomechanics, sports training, functional fitness, weight loss, nutrition, and lifestyle management. Our personal trainers are trained to evaluate and assess your body for muscular imbalances and design personalized programs to fit your needs, thus maximizing your results in a safe and effective manner. Your personal trainer will provide you with the knowledge, motivation, and confidence to attain your goals, change your body, and transform your life.

Private Personal Coaching

Whether you want to lose weight, lose inches, get stronger, increase your metabolism, improve your nutrition, or just improve your overall health and fitness, our expert team of certified personal trainers and strength and conditioning coaches are committed to providing the right "game-plan” specifically tailored for you to reach your goals.

Group Coaching

Onslow Fitness now offers Group Training.  Are you looking to save money?  Are you looking for a partner to train with but cannot find one?  Group Training has similar benefits of 1-1 personal training at a fraction of the cost.

  • Small Group Coaching

A dynamically charged functional workout designed to tone, strengthen, stretch and burn calories fast.  This all levels program will have you pushing pulling swinging and tossing your way to a new body.  TRX suspension system, ropes, smash balls, Kettle bells and the agility ladder are just some of the props you will be using to achieve a full body burn like never before.  Come in, work hard and have fun.

  • Express Coaching

This amazing workout increases muscular and cardio fitness while melting calories in just 30 minutes. Backed by scientific research, this 30-minute program is precisely sequenced to optimize metabolic rate so that participants can burn up to 600 calories in a session. Featuring the FreeMotion Incline Trainer, FreeMotion Circuit of functional training equipment and the FreeMotion Vertex vibration platform, you will be constantly working and GETTING RESULTS!

Group Coaching
There are 2 ways to get involved:

1.        You can schedule a fitness coaching session with our Head Trainer to discuss how to sign up for any of the previously mentioned group coaching options.

2.       You can try any of these sessions for free by signing up for a demo.

How do I sign up?

See the Front Desk staff or one of our Fitness Coaches in order to schedule your spot in the session, or you can call the club.

All sessions must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.

 


Meet Our Fitness Coaches:

 

Sarah Phillips

 

Sarah has been actively training individuals and groups at Onslow Fitness for over 3 years. Starting out as a yoga instructor, Sarah now also teaches aqua, spin and everything in between. Craving knowledge and experience has established Sarah as a multifaceted and integral part of the Onslow Fitness training staff. In addition to being a certified personal trainer through the Aerobic Fitness Association of America and a group fitness instructor, Sarah is also a Certified Physical Therapy aide which enables her to work with a variety of populations. Sarah specializes in group training, weight loss, yoga and flexibility. Sarah is well known for adding fun and originality to your workouts.       


  
                           
         

 Cam Ormsby

          

Cam comes to us from Bucknell University where he served as an Assistant Soccer Coach from 2006-2009. Before that Cam was the Head Soccer Coach and PE/Health and Weight Training teacher at Alexander Central High School in Taylorsville, North Carolina. Cam began his career as an Assistant Soccer Coach at Appalachian State University where he earned a BS in Physical Education. He was also named captain of the Men's Soccer team during his playing career at ASU. Cam currently holds the Director of Coaching position with the Onslow Classic Soccer Association. Cam is experienced with athletic performance enhancement and functional training and holds several soccer licenses including: National Soccer Coaches Association of America - Advanced National Diploma, National Diploma, State Goalkeeper License Youth II Module license. He lives with his wife Jenny and there son in Carteret County.           

Grace Ferrell

Grace has a Bachelor’s of Science from Ohio University in Exercise Physiology. She is a certified American College of Sports Medicine ‘Health and Fitness Specialist’, Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Instructor, and Waterfront Lifeguard. Grace played for the Ohio University Women’s Water Polo team and competed in the Collegiate Water Polo Association from 2008-2011. Grace has 3 years experience training and instructing young swimmers, adults/ community members, and individuals with cardiac or arthritic related complications. She specializes in training clinical populations using aquatic, low-impact exercises

          

Gillian Mounsey

Gillian Mounsey has a B.S in Exercise Science from Hofstra University and has been a personal trainer for over 15 years. Gillian is dedicated to improving the quality of people's lives through exercise, education and community building. She hold numerous certifications including CrossFit Level 1 and Level 2, Starting Strength Coaching Certification, CrossFit Olympic Lifting Certification, Cross Fit Gymnastics, POSE Running and Wharton Stretching. She has vast experience training diverse populations including pre and post natal women, severely injured, professional athletes, seniors and children. Additionally she has a background in cardiac rehabilitation.    When she is not training, coaching or conducting workshops Gillian devotes her time to raising funds and awareness for Hope for the Warriors. The mission of Hope for the Warriors™ is to enhance the quality of life for US Service Members and their families nationwide who have been adversely affected by injuries or death in the line of duty.  Gillian runs her own non-profit initiative, Live Fit America. Live Fit America seeks to combat the growing epidemic of obesity and related illnesses by bringing the culture of physical activity back to the American lifestyle.  Gillian's numerous athletic accomplishments include winning first place in the nation in the 1995 United States Marine Corps National Youth Physical Fitness Championship (a battery of events including max push-ups, max pull-ups, max sit-ups in 2 minutes, 300 yard shuttle run and broad jump), taking 3rd place in the 2008 CrossFit Games and more recently (7/9/11) taking 1st place in the 69kg weightclass of the 2011 Liberty Open North Texas Weightlifting Meet and 1st place at the USAPL Northeast Regional Powerlifting Championships (12/4/11).  Gillian continues to lift competitively on the national level and trains with her husband, Mac Ward, at their home gym in Cedar Point.  For more information check out www.gillianmounsey.com

Shawn Davis

Shawn spent 20 years of active service with the United StatesMarine Corps, were he spent much of his time physically training and mentoring men and women. He is a Certified Personal Trainer through the Aerobic and Fitness Association of America. Prior to coming to Onslow Fitness Shawn has been working with youth athletics, conditioning and coaching youth soccer and softball players since 2005. He specializes in weight loss and functional training and lives in Jacksonville with his wife Kathryn and their two children Bethany and Ella.
